February 28, 2005 — Cook Hospital asks Heiam Foundation to purchase a dozen diagnostic systems

The Cook Hospital has asked the W.C. Heiam Medical Foundation to purchase twelve Welch Allyn 767 diagnostic systems for the new hospital rooms at the cost of $10,000.00. The WelchAllyn 767 is an easy to install wall unit that encompasses all the essential instruments needed for diagnostic examinations.

This wall unit includes a 3.5v professional ophthalmoscope, fibre optic otoscope, disposable specula dispenser and phygmomanometer. Both the ophthalmoscope and the otoscope of this rechargeable wall mounted set are fitted with bright HPX bulbs to show true tissue color. The high quality set is capable of eighteen aperture combinations (including polarizing filter) and has 28 lenses to give diagnostic flexibility and excellent resolution.

The head of the fibre optic otoscope twists off to reveal a powerful throat illuminator/pen torch while the co-axial ophthalmoscope slows easy entry for shadow-free viewing of the retina. Four reusable specula are included.

Supplied on a sturdy pre-drilled Midmark mounting board, the unit benefits from locking collars for instrument heads and a wall transformer with automatic on/off optical sensors.
